Looking back at your preliminary task (the college magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

From using photo shop for both tasks I can tell and say that I was able to improve my main task better than the preliminary because I had learnt more effects and ways to change my images on my main task. 4 things that I learnt to use and used in my main task was the photo shop rulers. This is allowed to see where I can align things on the cover and also gave me straight and in line text being able to have even space through put the pages with my being able to label up where to put text and to give it a specific space to put the text. Also the clone stamp tool, this tool allowed me to get rid of remove a logo that was one of my models t shirt that I didn't wont on them because it would attract the audience’s eye and would take them away from the main thing that is being represented on the page. A disadvantage of this was that sometimes it cloned things wrong and you would get other things on the image that you didn't want there and it would still catch the audiences eye if it was left like it. So it was quite hard on some parts to hide something without having something else come up when you cloned it. I was able to learn on how to use the eye dropper tool. This tool allowed me to use the same colour and have it displayed somewhere else on the programme so I could just click it and use it on any piece of media that I wanted that colour instead of having to try and guess what the colour was and get it the same. Also this let me use the colour even on a different page on the photo shop programme. Lastly was the magic wand tool, this tool allowed me to delete areas of the image or media that I didn't want and deleted it or gave it a white background. This was a faster process of me trying to rub out all the outskirts around my models to fit things either around or behind them. Also you could change the intensity of it from how close the tool would highlight around something. However a lot of the time the tool would highlight something that you didn't want it to and it would remove it so it had to be quite precise and frustrating on where and how to find the right places to delete the media.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Programs that I learnt to use to evaluate and create my magazine where flickr, blogger and photo shop. Photo shop was the main programme that I learnt a lot of new skills from because it was a lot of editing for the magazine itself so I had to edit things myself learning how to change the balance of the image and the saturation in different places. Also I learnt how to use different shots with a camera using mid shots and some close ups. This gave me more knowledge and gave me a chance to ry out different images to take to try and get this professional and good image for my magazine. I learnt on where to take a good picture too and what things I need to think about when taking a picture like for a single portrait image it look professional to have a clear and single colour background and then thinking about the lighting positioning and how to take the image maybe thinking about exposure time to let more let in etc. Flickr was a good website for my coursework because it allowed me to analyse my work with ease giving me the abillity to point at the things that i was annotating. It also gives good organisation with my work with it being annotated and stored onto this wesbite giving the ability for others to see and comment on my work. The disadvange of flickr is that you are restricted on what you can do as on other programmes to develop and fully annotate your work. It makes your work look proffesional but again lacks the abillity on what you can do on the website. Blogger and flickr are similar they give this professional aspect to your work with you being able to state and annotate work but you can do much things on the websites than other sources. However, on blogger you can write a full anaylsis of the work instead of just putting noted to anaylse certain parts. Blogger also gives this documentation view making it look a differnt type proffesionalism to the work.

How did you attract/address your audience?

My media product is addressed in a way that attracts the target audience in what they want and how the magazine expresses it. Someone would want to buy my magazine because they will be interested in the music that is promoted from this magazine and also the events inside. Also the way the the magazine has been designed and set out. The way in which the text is writing it a big factor because it is done using slang that these people will use and will appeal them to buy the magazine. The main thing that attracts the audience to this magazine is by the way in which the font of the artist that is the highlight of this magazine is done in a large text a lot bigger than the other text to fully express the artist and also is bold for it to be eye catching so when that target audience sees this they are more enthused to buy the magazine because it has the bold and representation of this group being expressed in a large detail's that it will show off inside the magazine. The image on the magazine is also a audience attractor as if someone who is apart of this target audience dresses like on the image then they will see the image and then be pulled in too by the text. The target audience is dressed similar to people on image giving my magazine the abillity to pull the target audience that i wont for my magazine. The featured articles that have been mentioned on the magazine may pull in not just the appearance type audience but will pull in the audience that wont to see whats in side and the information that its got to give. It could pull in more a larger audience making more profit as the more audiences are seeing the magazine gaining profit via advertisement. Colours that have been presented also pull in the audience as they are colours that i more of a stereotypical colour seen or used by the target audience that im going for.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for my media product will be similar to the people shown because this Is the type of people that will listen to the music that is in the magazine and will also be interested in the news that is being articled and reviewed inside too.Fashion is very important to my target audience as they like to show off there clothing which makes them apart of their 'crew'. They also enjoy the feeling and having money. It is something this target audience enjoy to use and boast about helping them with their 'swag' and also them a higher ego. Another element of my target audience is that they enjoy to smoke illegal drugs getting the enjoyment of relaxing and getting this high. Alot of the rappers that are featured in my magazine rap about marijuanna so alot of the audience consume this drug wanting to be apart of this group. Fast food is a easy food substance for them as they arn't a kitchen person with also living in a big city landscape it is easier to grab some fast food then prepping and taking time in the kitchen when it can be done with ease. The music and culture is the most important thing about my magazine that represent my target audience as they highly follow the music and culture of hip hop with the art in the music.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I would let my magazine be published by IPC because they are a large publishing company that would allow my magazine to be in a lot of places for more people to see. Also it will make the profits of my magazine go up because more people will be buying the magazine if it is a good hit in the market. Being published will give my magazine a lot of advertisement and will be seen more than other magazines increasing its popularity and then will gain people to be intrigued to buy the magazine, However, being published with a large publishing company means that there is a lot of money that has to be given in to the company for them to publish my magazine. This is will also be a disadvantage if my magazine doesn't sell because I will be using money that is doing anything to my magazine and will then fail in my company. With the popularity of the music that my magazine is promoting the magazine would be able to sponsor venues and will also be advertised around a lot of music based shops and also online. This will then be mass marketing and my product will have a better advantage of getting bought. Condé Nast would be a publisher that wouldn't publish my magazine because it is a institution that is mainly aimed for magazines that target fashion and clothing where as my magazine is mainly for the music. I know my target audience could be pulled in by the apperance on the front cover but the purpose of the magazine is aimed about the music and culture of hip hop. If this was the publisher then my magazine wouldn't make business because the advertisement would be portrayed completely different to attract the audience i wont. Also it wouldn't get out there because it would so unconventional for that publisher to release my magazine so it wouldn't sell at all.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My media magazine is similar to the music magazine called vibe because both of the magazines are promoting the same type of music for the same type of person that would buy the vibe magazine. Also the things that are in the magazine are similar with the articles and the art inside it. As you can see from my magazine cover the people I've got in the image are all looking at the camera which pulls in the audience because it represents that they are looking at you, so it drags you in and makes you want to see what's on this front cover. With the body positioning it is similar to vibe because there isn't really a lot of unconventional and drastic postures on their cover, its just a neutral standing or sitting stance. The setting of where it image is set is something that links in with the target audience and also towards the music. The grungy, ghetto and hip hop scene. This is what I aimed for with the blue and brick layed background with a small amount of graffiti on the contents page. Where as the vibe magazine is normally done with set colour background with shading behind the person to make them stand out. They also might have the colour for the set background a colour that is represented and seen as the artists theme. I have made the ethnic background a stereotypical theme for my type of magazine because a lot of people on hip hop magazines are black and its unconventional to have and rarely seen to see a white person on the magazine. I have put my magazine in the unconventional status by putting both ethnic backgrounds in my magazine.
